1982 John Deere 317 "Special"

I bought this 317 "rolling chassis" at a salvage yard auction to make a parade unit. The 18 HP Kohler Command engine came from a salvaged Miller welder for $200, after that, I quit keeping track of $$$! Put it together enough to make sure everything worked OK, then stripped it back down to the frame. Found another 317 frame, cut 30" off the back & welded to the main frame. Had new driveshaft & hydraulic lines made. Seat is two after-market JD two-cylinder cushion sets. Bed is made from native White Oak.

The "charcoal gray" color is "just to be different"!
