I'm looking for a cap. I have found some but a little pricey. Sams has aftermarket but I would like original if I can. Does anybody have an old one they would sell, It doesn't have to be pretty just usable. I do have a new decal for one if I can only find a cap.

Huh, I didn't even know my 1050 was supposed to have a steering wheel cap. Learn something new every day. Thanks.

Can someone tell me if I need a black or a clear cap? 1050 192-02
The caps were clear, and you need the one with the "grooves" around the edges. Early caps were more cone shaped with smooth sides. Old style #1717327( Used mostly around 1966 )
Newer Style: 1719165 (Most common)

The engine dates to January 1967, I would assume this is a 1967 1050 correct?

Which part number would I be looking for? By your description it would be the newer style?
Usually the engines used were 1 year older than the tractors themselves, so most likely you have a 1968, which used the 1719165 caps
