The Suburban 10 and 12 tractors call for SAE 30 motor oil. I would think it's the same for the 10 XL. Some people use 80w-90w in them, but never use grease.
If you are talking about the gear boxes on the deck, I'm not sure about that. An educated guess would lead me to believe that gear oil should be in those. Grease doesn't lube gear box bearings very well.
There ya go. 3 replies and 3 different answers. I don't know what's right. My manual just calls for "moly EP lithium grease" {can be purchased from Sears auto dept} It does not specify weight. In the side on mine that was leaking and low I used what I call "pouring" grease. It is thicker than 80-90 but will still flow.
