Tire Wheel Vehicle Automotive tire Motor vehicle
Here she is! I am working on figuring out what year it is. It doesn't look complete in these pictures but there are quite a few parts off of it at the moment courtesy of the previous owner (seat pan, seat, flywheel cover, etc.) Compression is weak but there, not sure if it is a ring problem, carbon on the valves, or that compression release valve ( which I have to peek at the manual to find). Other than that my biggest goal is getting it running. I have a box full of v-belts too that came with it that I have no idea what they are for. Going to buy a battery, spark plug, and some fresh oil tomorrow. I will have more pictures very soon (and some more details to try to help you guys help me cuz I'm a noob)

Feel free to comment or ask questions and I will try to answer.

Enjoy!

Scott, Congrats on your new project! Here is hoping that your low compression problem is something as simple as a blown head gasket. It will be a good heavy duty tractor once you bring it back to life again. Thanks for the pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions as you go. Good luck!

Hey guys I'm going to run SAE 30 in it but I was wondering what the oil capacity was because I can't seem to find it. Also, what do you run in the rear end and how much?

I think it takes about 1 1/2 quarts......There is a dipstick on the filler hole plug. ....

Looked it up.......

Engine.....It says 50 oz...whatever that translates to.

Rear axle....SAE 90...4 pints

That is the same tractor I have, they are great machines. I think it is right at about a quart for the oil. It's been a while since I changed mine but plan on it here soon. I think you will find something simple and get it running again which are the best because the previous owner couldn't figure it out so they let them site and sell em cheap.

BTW my tractor is missing the 90 degree elbow for me to put the stack on it. Any suggestions for what I can use (the short pipe coming out of the block is still there).

That is the way mine is. I just have a nipple coming out of the block. I had a muffler shop bend a piece of 1 1/2" exhaust pipe with a 90* bend and it fits right on the nipple.

I just did the forbidden sin and am posting a Cub in a Massey forum but this pic shows the stack on my cub and it is the same as what it is on the Massey just on the other side of the tractor.

The MF12 that I got last week and DH1 has now had plumbers threaded pipe right into the block, then with a couple of elbows and nipples to a muffler.
