I topped off my fluids on my 1971 power king 1614, but everytime i run the tractor I am losing gear oil through the weapers on the rear. Is this right? It seems to me that it shouldn't be this way.

I have a cotter pin on the vent hole of the plugs it stops most of the lube from coming out but some still does, there are vented plug that can be installed like these but this listing is for 10 but the price per unit is good

You are only filling it to the lower check plug right each final drive only requires 1.5 US pints

I thought it was supposed to go to the upper hole. I guess thats why its coming out the way it is.

Yep that's why way over filled if you drain them and refill to the lower check plug hole the cotter key in the vent hole will work good

PS save the excess and it can be used to service the tractor in the future, also a note the transmission only needs 8 oz of gear lube or 1" below the side fill hole

wow ya lol "just a tad over full". By the manual they are only supposed to have 1 1/2 pints of gear oil in them. And the transmission holds 2 pints.

The transmission is 1/2 pt or 1" below the filler/check plug these transmission have no seals on the input . output shafts only an oil slinger so if overfilled the lube will go out thru the bearings and run down the DS tube to the 2nd trans if installed and then on to the differential and then into the final drive box's
