A fellow forum member contacted me about Dad's White garden tractor. He had a friend in PA who's grandfather had a white GT as a kid. It was similar to dad's and he wondered if dad would sell or trade. I asked him and dad said sure, he didn't need anymore GT's, but would sell it. After almost a month, due to me having a busy schedule, the day finally came.
Mike and his girlfriend drove 31/2 hrs from PA (four adn a half if they counted the hour they sat still on the Thruway due to an accident) to dad's place. I wasn't planning to be there, I had lots of other things to get done today. As fate had it, I had to go to town near dad's, so I called to see how the transfer went. They hadn't arrived yet. Since I was close and mom had just put on coffee, I stopped over for a cup. A couple of minutes after I arrived, Mike backed his truck and trailer in. It was his grandfather's very same White. His grandfather had put those headlights on. We got it loaded onto the trailer, pushing of course, and then went in to have coffee. His grandfather lived about 10 miles from my parents place. His grandfather bought it brand new. Mike first drove it at age three. Mike explained his grandmother apparently gave the tractor to the person dad bought if from.
Once they were warmed up, they headed out as they had a long trip. It was lousy weather in Upstate NY today. The temp was -2 f when they arrived. The wind was getting up pretty good too. A quick picture or two and they were gone. Mom, dad and I were thrilled that Mike got the tractor. They were a really great couple. We enjoyed our visit. I encouraged Mike to join here. I hope he does.
The bottom picture is Mike on his grandfather's, now his, White. I don't think it gets much better than that.
