More issues found. While checking my Wife's car 2012 Equinox I found no oil on the dip stick. I added 1.5 QT's to bring the level up. Oil was changed a Month or so ago. Computer shows 77% life remaining. I checked underneath, and around the filter and found no leaks. Exhaust looks normal. Guess I'll be checking the oil weekly on this and track the consumption.
I guess there is nothing more you could do.
I know modern VW engines with an oil consumption of 0.5 litres at 1.000 km - which is about 0.11 gal at 620 miles - and this will be considered as normal!!
Depending on the engine and miles driven this may or may not be normal. The engine may still use a PCV valve or some other method so that excessive pressure does not build up inside the crankcase. This system could be damaged or plugged resulting in oil being forced (or sucked) out of the crankcase into the combustion area. With the high operating temperature of catalytic convertors and exhaust there may not be much evidence showing up by the time the exhaust exits the tail pipe - just a thought. One other thought might be that if the oil was changed by a shop they may not have refilled the crankcase to the full level after the vehicle was started and the oil filled up the new oil filter (if it was changed at the same time).
All loaded up, cameras charged and packed. Trailer lights, check. Coolers check, camp stuff, check, If I forgot anything my Son is going with me for the Friday set-up, and my Daughter is coming out Saturday. My Grandson can go back with her, and I'll be free to stay another night.
