Has anybody seen my coffee ?

Most of our old engines will leak without fuel shutoffs. Most came with factory fuel shutoffs (some in inconvenient locations). Most of the time after I go thru the carbs they don't leak or leak very little for a long while....Then it happens,suddenly,usually very inconveniently. Last week I had 3 good running,normally non leakers decide to leak all in the same week. Including a Honda that I hadn't had to shut the fuel off on in two years. One decided it would even leak with the fuel shutoff turned off. Guess I need to buy some new shutoffs.

Yep we've all been there

The engines of the 70's and earlier almost always had a note in the manual to shut off the fuel when not in use. I always shut off my fuel valve when the engine is running then let it idle for a minute or two to get the gas out of the fuel line then turn off the machine which guarantees it will not leak when you store it in the garage.

Once the Fuel solenoids came into existence the leaking problems were stopped :D

Just had the same problem Boyscout helped me out with a napa part number I had trouble finding 7-02351 universal shut off valve.

I'm used to it after 20 plus years of playing with old engines but I found it interesting that 3 all in the same week kicked off a leaking party after no new issues for months....About the fuel shut off relays....I hate them... :poke:

I've never had any of mine leak. Am I lucky?
And now he waits for the other shoe to fall.....

By chance were tanks topped off? That heat wave last week probably expanded the gas pretty much. Happens all the time diesel tanks. Just a thought.
Never happens with the semi's and I checked the injectors to be sure.... :poke: It might have been an issue but at least one still leaking and it's cooler. Guess I should do something about that instead of watching the puddle get bigger. :flipping_flapjacks:

Lol ya I should look at them now they all might be leaking. Lol I have a problem that I don't use them enough and the battery dies

I don't like the fuel solenoid idea that much , the Toro 1 plays up all the time , takes ages to start some times

Once the solenoids quit working, they allow the crankcase to fill full of fuel!

now that sounds like trouble i don't want, but mine is really slow to open i discovered when i took it out & tried it

but the machine sat in a garage for 2 yrs with stale fuel in it ;

it was a hell's own job cleaning all the gunk out of every thing when i 1st got it
