I only have two of them right now, I scanned both of them and put them in the manuals section for all the members.

I think my dad had got one or two of the Bolens ads also. I think it is neat seeing the way they used to advertise the tractors and the way people dressed. The other thing I find amusing is they always have pipes hanging out of their mouths. God for bid you have that in an ad now a days.

We have the two that I got so far framed and hanging on the office wall. I plan on getting as many as I can find once I get time to start looking for them. I would love to happen across an old stock of magazines from the 60's and 70's.

I have a collection of Scientific American magazines. I found a Bolens picture in an issue from July of the year 1926. It's not a Bolens ad, but an article on the mechanization of farming. The picture is of two young ladies, wearing dresses of course, complete with hats with flowers on them. They're each posed behind a Bolens walk-behind tractor with cultivators attached. Looks like the ladies are smiling, so I doubt they were actually having to work the tractors. Maybe I'll try to scan the picture. It's kind of a dark photo and, of course, in black and white, so I'm not sure how good it would come out. Also have at least 3 decades of National Geographic magazines with plenty of GT ads.

Thisreally should go in site questions, but so you can see why I ask, I'll ask it here. Why is it my replies are just a few words, but my reply post box is so large? Bill's last post is longer, but his box is appropriately sized????????

It is because he doesn't have an avatar or a signature, he also doesn't have his location.

There are two different layouts that can be used for the posts, it one is the one we are using, it is called a vertical postbit because everything is in the left column for the user info shown vertically. The other is a horizontal postbit which puts all of the user info and avatar across the top of the post. I like either or but a lot of people are used to the old style which is why we use it.

If you notice the line above the signature starts right after all of the user's info on the left?

I got copies of dozens of Massey ads from the University of Iowa's collection, I'd send them to someone and see if they could get them to show out well online, some are little grainy, others are pretty darn clear, I just don't have time to do anything with them

Mike if you want to send them to me I can scan them and mail em back. It is up to you, it would be cool to be able to post all that we could ever get a hold of on the site.
