Anyone have a garden tilling service?

Hi all,
the other day I had a spark in my head, has anyone made a garden tilling service with their machine? I have tillers, disks, plows, and maybe just about every class of small scale garden making. In addition, i also have a Ford NAA with a two bottom plow and a pull type plow. Has anyone made a service making gardens or plowing plots of land for anyone, and if so, does anyone have any tips? Thanks!

Edit: I also own a cub cadet original with a plow and disk, i don't know why i didn't bring it up lol

Ive haven’t myself but I’ve seen them advertised in local free papers . If I remember they were priced $50 and up , though that was a few years ago . I would think how easy to get into the garden , any fencing , if it’s a new garden area too might change the cost .

I did it a little bit about 12 years ago. It is an LGT Ford, so it could get through a lot of gates etc whereas you NAA could not. Also have a tractor with a plow to break up virgin ground. Back then I charge $60/hr....I imagine it would be higher now.

Would probibly have to get a small "ish" diesel tractor with a newer tiller (that you can still buy parts for for) for it be profitable in my area. Alot of the older garden tractor tillers are very hard to find parts for especially new Tines.

There are alot of rocks and roots and what not that you will be hitting if the ground hasn't been plowed or tilled up before. Tines wear out pretty fast if your digging up a bunch of rocks.

I have a nice 36" Wheel Horse tiller that needs new tines but they are super expensive. They cost more than IMO my tractor is worth. $1,296 or $648 per side or JUST $616.50 for the conversion kit off of ebay that makes the tines replaceable so that you don't have to buy the entire drum/tine assembly to replace the tines. Still thinking about buying the $600 kit but money has been really tight.

lol my poor tiller looks more like a spike aerator but it is very solid and the previous owner put a new chain and sprockets and shaft seals in it rite before I got it. They must have forgot to buy a new case gasket and used some funky looking light blue gasket maker but it doesn't leak.

For a compact tractor and disc harrow, it's $100 for 50x50 up to 1/4 acre out this way.
The insurance is almost 1/2 the cost.

Harrys set up is ideal for doing garden work. The tiller does a great job.
If you get into doing it, get insurance !

why insurance? I thought it'd be a small end thing to do

Well if you do any damage on other peoples property, you’ll have to pay out of your own pocket or have insurance to pay. Other than the deductible.
Up to you.
