I am restoring my 650 and decided to convert from a briggs pull start to a Wisconsin S8D with a starter generator, so I need to mount the regulator somewhere. I was thinking about mounting the regulator on the firewall behind the engine, but all the pictures I see of other Bolens tractors show the regulator on top of the engine or mounted on the starter/generator. My Delco Remy regulator is to big to mount on the Delco Remy starter and I don't have a metal plate that I see on top of other Wisconsins, so I can't mount it there. The most logical place is on the firewall, plenty of room, but all the engine heat will be blowing on the regulator. IS THIS A BAD IDEA??.

Thanks!! Paul

Thanks for the info! YES! The engine shafts were the same, so the pulley came off the Briggs and went on the Wisconsin - no problems!
