can anyone tell my why the pulley on the rear end doesn’t stop turning when I push the brake pedal in. It seems to have plenty of slack in the belt when the pedal is depressed, but it still will not go in gear with the engine running.

I have videos as well, but I’m not sure how to upload them.

Belt guides are needed is my guess. I had that trouble with my MF 7 a few weeks ago. I had to change the belt. Old one been there for 15 or more years. Just worn out I guess, all of a sudden.

I have been fiddling with these foot draggers since the early 90s and some still catch me off guard.
I have a Simplicity 725 (same as B1) doing that to me right now.
I changed and adjusted belt guards,changed idler pulley sizes,adjusted (and adjusted some more) the clutch linkage and belt slack and this one is still fighting me.

Your belt stop is missing, so no amount of fiddling will solve the issue. You need this horseshoe part, installed to give only minor clearance to the belt when the clutch is engaged (less than 1/8").

His belt guard is there Josh and so is mine.
So the fiddling I have done is with all guards in place and still no joy.

I have learned that belt guides and stops must be in place and adjusted to the proper clearances, very critical on Allis Chalmers and Simplicity products. Missing or improperly adjusted guides and stops have caused a lot of these machines to be scrapped over the years. One simple little guide can keep the entire system from operating properly.
