This year I played catch up with all the projects that were around my home which were not machine related. I kind of fell out of touch with the forum. Some recent events made me remember what I had forgotten.

It all started last week, I had decided to try and get my MF12H going. It is built from 2 hydra parts tractors that came here in pieces. Last year I got the engine to fire, run terrible, and winter came knocking. So, I pulled it back out last weekend and fiddled around with it. I checked for fuel, compression, and spark. All was there, which wasn't what I had expected, so I dug deeper. Ended up finding someone before me had driven the trigger pins into the flywheel way to far. How far you ask, I quit checking coil clearance at .075"... spec is .006-.010" So I swapped the flywheel from a parts motor and it came back from the dead. The MF12H built from 2 mystery meat parts tractors runs and drives.

So I told the wife "it's yours" and showed her the ins and outs of it vs. the MF10G diesel we use to keep this place going. So we were at 2 running machines on 9/22 and one project '66 MF10G that I haven't messed with. I figured I'd find a better grille for the MF12G and started the usual search including the local CL which 99% of the time is worthless since Masseys are rare stuff over this way.

There was an ad for a "massey ferguson lawn mower" no pictures and no model number, so I emailed and got a pic of a MF12G retrofitted to somebody elses plow. It was a divorce deal, so I went to look at it, although I didn't need it, and I bought it. Its a running MF12G with 3 new carlisle turf saver tires, the tiller lift hitch and spring bracket, and a set of 4 bar chains.

That puts me at 4 Massey Fergusons, 1968 10G DIESEL, 1966 10G, 1973 12H, and a 1972 12G. I am at all I care to own but it reminded me where I need to get back to... Here.

Good to hear from you again, and glad that you're still keeping them alive and running.
As it's been said, when you get some time, pics of the herd would be nice.

I'll try to post some pics today, I have to pull the last original tire from the 12G and my friend will replace it tomorrow (it blew out already and its tubed / has splits in the tread). Planning on starting fall maintnence for the tractors this week since daylight is rapidly getting shorter.

On a better note, had an electrician here yesterday, he said my garage subpanel install is engineer like, so there will be no issues getting it up and going. Its set up for HEAVY welding with a 30A 120V circuit and a 50A 240V. Fabrication for the sled pulling truck will be lots easier.

Nice herd! Close as you have them in the shed, they will probably multiply!

I got the 12G running and useable. I had to tear down the carb, clean everything, and bead blast the inside of the bowl. I rebuilt the tank shutoff valve with a new o ring and ran a new line with a filter. After that it would run enough to make some laps around the block and once it was warm I pulled it back in the shop. I dropped the oil in the motor (black) and the transaxle (nasty). Put 10W40 back in the engine, 80W90 in the transaxle, and greased it. Going to add ZDDP additive to the engine since it has a flat tappet cam, but might be pulling the engine off soon so I'll wait...

Anyway it runs good enough now that it is sort of useable. The variable drive belts are shot, but it will move, just have to use low on steep hills. I also replaced the original muffler and extension pipe. The engine runs good but has a loud tick in it, I'm thinking there is an excessive clearance issue in the valvetrain. This may be why it was sitting, it had the noise once I had it running. Kind of odd since it seems to have good power.

Anybody know where these variable drive belts can be bought for a better price? I need 3 sets of them!
