I have a bolens 1050 that isnt running right, i have had the carb rebuilt twice, so i bought a different one and that didnt help either. when it runs it will only idle and when i give it gas it starts to sputter and pop. then when i try to start it again it pops out of the air cleaner. i have tried adjusting the carb every way possible and nothing works, i really need some advice.

Sounds like ignition to me, too. I'd check the points. Kohler engines are prone to idling well with bad points but running like junk at high RPM. The Wisconsin TRA series was always the same.

Ignition timing on these Wisconsin engines is very sensitive! .....The best method is to set the points with a continuity tester (light or meter).

Set your carb to the initial settings recommended in the Wisconsin manual. ...These settings will be close enough to get the engine running.

If the ignition timing and spark are good, and the carb is good, your problem may be in the valvetrain, which can cause the backfiring.
