This is my first time posting on this forum. I recently bought a Bolens 1050 and would like to repower it with a HH150 out of a Bolens 1556. Is it as easy as remove one and bolt the other in its place, or is there alot of fab and electical work involved? This nothing more than wanting a little more hp.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Which engine is in the 1050 now the TR 10D or TRA 10D? I have two 1050's, one with 8.5 and one with 10 hp and I run out of traction long before I run out of power. What are you wanting more power for? If your running a thrower and in real wet snow with an 8 hp you could be a little short on power to throw it very far.

The engine currently in the 1050 is the TRA-10D. There is nothing wrong with it, and it runs great. I was thinking about doing the engine swap only because I have the other engine, or if something happens to the TRA-10D. As far as the 1556 is concerned, I traded a drill for it. There is a ton of stuff wrong with it- 1.Someone took the nut and washer off the right rear wheel they didn't put the washer back on and ruined the axel. 2.All of the wires look like they have been hack on with a butterknife.
3. It sat outside so long most of the moving peices wouldn't move. 4. the one good thing is the engine isn't locked up, I can hand turn it. As a side note, this is my first garden tractor (that runs). I Love this thing its simple, eveything is shaft driven and you don't need 50' belt for the mower deck. My only question is why did they stop making these tractors?

Thanks Tom

I would keep the Wisconsin, in my opinion it is far superior to the tecumseh and the TRA10D has a far better parts availability than the Tecumseh right now. Tecumseh has actually stopped producing engines and is now only selling parts.

Thanks for the info on the engines. I believe I will leave good enough alone. By the way is there suppose to be a whine from the trans when you drive it?
