Disclaimer: This project is not for everyone, and I want that to be clear. It is something most will not understand or find logic in, but that's OK. The good news, for you anyway, is that this project is designed to be a "reversible bolt-on endeavor" meaning the original parts (a wheel set in this case) will be retained and can be swapped back on at anytime like nothing ever happened.

Now that due-diligence is out of the way we can get into some details ....otherwise if this quite understandably isn't your cup of tea, you know where to find the back arrow. :)

Alright, I'm working on a custom wheel project that I've been slowly planning over the past year and am now in the final stages of piecing together and thought it might be fun to post a teaser before final assembly. This machine, what I call a "resto-mod" for a number of reasons, has been making my mind go wild in terms of a unique & wheel setup so I decided to make a vision I've had for a long time happen. Nuff said.

I spent a lot of time researching options for comparable matches of 15" automotive rims to selections of 10" custom golf cart rims offerings. Not surprisingly, there aren't a lot of options when trying to find near exact replications of the two different types, or maybe I should say not many combinations I thought suitable for this particular project. I had considered running the 'delta style' John Deere SE rims that come on the X500/700 series machines- (only in a different color of course) for a while but decided to go a different route when I came across these. I eventually found a set of 10" rims made by Carlisle called "Mod Wheels" for the front which have a similar flavor to a particular set of some 15" rock crawler rims. I sometimes purposefully drag these things out as I have a tendency to change my mind on the direction of my projects once or twice midway through but once I make a final decision, I stick with it. Due to the costs involved with this project, I had to be pretty certain this was the way I wanted to go. Anyway, all four wheels came new in black paint but I had them sandblasted and powder coated in Tiger Drylac's "Mirror Silver." I could've stayed with the black but I wanted something that would connect with alongside the white.

Below are a few specs. There are a couple more steps to happen before final assembly but I will go over more once everything is mounted and put together in the coming weeks. The end result will most certainly not be for everybody, and I think it's important to reiterate again that it will purely be a bolt-on setup which can be totally reversible and brought back to stock configuration in just a few minutes.

Specs - Custom wheel & tire set:

Rims

Front - 10" Carlisle "Mod" wheels

Rear - 15" Bart "Super Trucker" wheels

Tires

Front- 22x9.50-10" Carlisle "All Trail ll" tires- (Like HDAP tires only in a heavier 4ply rating)

Rear- 29x12.50-15" Carlisle "Tru Powers"

Specs - Original wheel & tire set:

Rims

Front - 8"

Rear - 12"

Tires

Front - 18x8.50-8 Carlisle "Links"

Rear - 26x12.00-12 Carlisle "Tru Powers"

The rear tires will be filled with a non-corrosive based fluid like the ones on it currently now are.

Had the gas cap done up in the same color. They have a tendency to corrode overtime.

Here it is with the bigger tires roughly mocked into place to give a basic visual representation.

Thanks guys, it will be interesting to view it in the flesh after seeing it in my head and photo shopping.

You'll see later how they're bolted up.

Bolens large frames are 12 lug
I think you mean 12 lugs in the rear combined. Each side is 6 bolts.
