The original front tires on my 1253 have finally gave up. They are the Goodyear 16x6.5-8. I have a pair of 4.8/4.00-8 wheels/tires from a tractor I parted out years ago. Has anyone used these on a medium frame? I will eventually replace the tires on the oem rims. Also does anyone have a good used pair for sale? Let me know.

4.80/4.00-8 tires were standard front tires on model 600, 650, & 750 Bolens tube-frame tractors.

Also, these were used as front tires on most Ride-A-Matics.

The diameter of the spindle, and width of the wheel hubs, will dictate which wheels will fit.

The narrow tires may cut in quicker and deeper when they encounter soft ground. When it is dry the narrow tires will not push down as much grass when using a deck, thus less chance of tire tracks in the cut grass. Pros and cons to both sizes. Use what works best for the task at hand.
