The gear-drive tube-frames did not come from the factory with a hydraulic lift.

However, the Bolens # 18703 Hydraulic Lift could be installed on any of the 8hp and higher, gear-drive tube-frames.

There was also a #18709 Hydraulic Lift Kit:

:ditto:

All Hydrostatic Did come with Hydraulic lifts built into the system, but Gear drives required the optional kit if you didnt want to do manual lift.

THANKS bruce and B1000

I wasn't sure.... I try to absorb the info I read and sometimes it gets overwhelming on what I all read...

I have a hydro and thinking I may be in the market for a gear driven for the garden--- easier on the hydro,,, for things like tiller and dragging equip.

For Tilling a Gear Driven tractor is the way to go. I remember trying to till with my 1256 when I had it years ago and the thing kept running away and I always had to ride the brake to slow it down.

The optional hydro lift is definitely a good thing to have if you have a tiller and/or snowcaster. I used the tiller ONE time with my G10, and promptly went on the hunt for the hydro lift.

Here's a pic of my G10 without and then without the optional lift. The green brace was for supporting the crank that turns the chute on the snowcaster. That has to be removed when the lift kit is installed, and a tab on the kit supports the crank. The lift is painted gold.
