ok i feel like an idiot, ive had this tractor for probably 25 years(my father has) havent really used it in about 15 it runs very well but after its been running a while it stops and wont start again till it cools off, it also has an oil leak coming from the crankcase split but im going to deal with that later I CAN NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHERE THE DRAIN PLUG IS, im used to more modern engines and im not really quite as mechaincally incompetent as this would make me seem, it has engine model number hh160 170005 and the reared is an eaton hydro 10 the tractor model is 1656-01, serial 100337(if thats of any use)

its on the bottom of the motor i believe on the right corner

looking at it which way?
sorry just went out to the yard its on the bottom of the motor and it the LEFT front corner the engine looks diffrent from all the bolens ones i have seen as that it has a S/G and white valve body

It's a real pain in the neck to get to. Go on the driver side and up under the engine it will be towards the front. It is a pain to change the oil because the oil runs out down along the front axle and makes a real mess.

husky, on a side note, i was thinking of putting a bucket on mine too, how well did the tube frame hold up for you? and how big of a pump did you have to put on?

Mine is on a 1556, same chassis as your H14. It does very well. I would recommend trying to find a Johnson 10 model. That is the smaller one with the 32" bucket, 300lb lift capacity. It is the perfect size for these tractors. I can send you pics if you need any at some point.

on to the second question, anybody know what the valves should be set at?
I'll look it up I think it is in the bolens tube frame manual. I did several of mine but forgot what the setting is.
