Hello everyone! I was wondering if somone could help me. Just got the Bolens tiller attached to the 1050 and thought I should check the gear lube before using it. Its the 25 inch tiller model 18616-01 I found the fill plug but there is to drain plug. Can somone tell me how much fluid to use or how to check the fluid level. Thanks for all your help! Steve....

There is a 1/8" pipe plug in the side of the gear case.

Fill the gearbox until the lube is up to the opening where you removed the pipe plug.

(The tiller should be in approximately its mounted position.)

You can use SAE90 gear lube, but I prefer SAE140, as it will not leak out as readily, and has a little more "cling" to it.

80w-85-90 is also acceptable, but is a little thinner.

Thanks for your response Bruce! I looked and looked and then I found the plug on the side of the gear box. It takes a allen wrench I was looking for a square pipe plug. The fluid was full so I tilled up the garden. Thanks again Steve....
