Was out blowing snow this morning, had the MF10 blower nicely into a pile of snow, went to back up and the shifter handle comes off in my hand. Snapped off just above where it goes into the tranny, just above the ball in the shifter part. Had a heck of a time getting it out of gear so I could push it to the garage......BTW, its freezing out and I have no heat in the garage. I took the shifter off and welded it up....I am hoping its going to hold. This ever happen to any of you Massey guys?.......Should I be looking for another shifter and handle?...I just got it back together, so far so good.......My fingers are still frozen,,,,Did I say its freezing out?

If you got it welded up good enough so it doesn't break again then I'd say you did good.
BTW it's nice and sunny out, a beautiful winters day here, what's it like out where you are.

I don't have a Massey, so can't help you out any. Sorry this happened. It's sure not fun when something breaks, in the winter, and you don't have a warm place to work on it. Hope the repair holds up for you.

Its sunny here too, -12c..... but trying to get those little bolts off that hold the shifter on without gloves, while laying in the snow cools you off real quick.......I think i got it welded pretty good.....used it for about an hour after.....shall see.

It's no fun when things break and it's cold out, at least you got it fixed.

an is that a lot of snow! Never had a shifter break off a GT, but had one break off our big Massey 2745. It went into a thingy in the cab, not direct into the tranny. It threaded in, so just cut new threads, removed the broken threads & put it back in.
I was afraid that bull of mine in the sink hole today may have broken a leg, or even his "shifter", but all is fine! LOL
Seriously though, nobody likes things to go wrong, but it always happens at the worst of times. Must be some kind of "Law of Nature" or something.

As long as you didn't drop your ball bearings, you came out of it just fine.

Poncho, glad you were able get your shifter fixed. I hope you don't need your golf cart in the next few days. LOL
