Looking at ride a matic for sale that doesn't run or roll. Owner says he was told you can't push a ride a matic because design of drive and it doesn't make sense to me. Can someone clarify if this is true?

thanks

Sometimes they will lock in place as they are a ratchet and pawl type system , generally if you turn the drive assembly by hand until you see the machine start to go in the direction you want you can then push them, if you still cant move it or it is still locked up theres issues inside your transmission!

This is the only possible thing that could be normally binding for you:

Sometimes mine won't roll forward but a small push backward clear's it.

Mine has a pin that engages the sprocket on the rear drive. Pull the knob out and it will roll either direction with no problem.
. That style is newer than the tractor he is asking about but your correct on some of the later models they had a pin like that
