finally got the 30 gal drum full of charcoal for the forge

takes a long time to fill , i just collected it every evening before lighting the pot belly stove

Please give some info on why your using charcoal for your forge ? Cost vs coal or maybe you can't get coal at all near by ? I'm always in amazment as I watch people work with hot metals and sand casting I've seen done . Great stuff !

1;charcoal is free to me as i use a stove 1/2 the year from Autumn to spring

2;im not going to try & find coal or coke out lets a round here , be to expensive & scarce

i have never done sand casting yet though , but will eventually try , got a cousin that's a boiler maker that's done sand casting

maybe he will guide me a bit on it

charcoal burns quicker than coke or coal does , so need more to play with lol

See for me I forget that coal mines aren't all over the place lol. You can buy at a lumber yard a few miles from my house , I used to go there with my pickup run on their scale and load it myself when we had a coal stove in the house . Pennsylvania Anthracite , a hard coal , Al
