I've been working to refurbish a couple MF-7s, including one that the PO put a larger engine in and did a little free-lance surgery to get it to fit. However, it's the one that runs and also has a mower deck.

Bella--my 2 year old grand-daughter, has always been shy around me. But, she saw me working on the tractor and just had to climb up and "drive" it.

I hadn't thought of that... that's a great Idea!! Only problem is, she has two older sisters, and 4 other cousins... I guess one name on each tractor I own...

As for riding it, she's still afraid of the noise, though her older sisters live to ride it with me...

A small price to pay to get to know my grand daughter better. They're living with us right now as they are buying a home and haven't closed on it yet... Bella has hardly let me hold her, let along play with her, but she's warmed up to ol' Granpa quite a bit.

My 18 month old loves rides. It's what she & I do on nice evenings. That or read an Elmo book... guess which I prefer?
Lol... yeah, I'm well-acquainted with the red Muppet.
Bella has a tthree year old cousin-- Xavier, who is addicted to Elmo. My wife found a little Elmo mechanical toy at a thrift store--it laughs, and stands up, lays down, sits up, etc. Xavier loves it... but, the "la la la-la, Elmo's song" get's a little old... Still, time spent with your kids or grandchildren isn't wasted... wish I'd realized that when my own were young--between school, two jobs, etc. I lost a lot of their childhood...

Thanks for the pictures and the updates. Little ones can be quite shy. Your granddaughter looks very comfortable sitting on the tractor seat. She may well deserve her own tractor.

I know your little one likes the evening rides, I just didn't know that you were that much into Elmo. (Sorry Alan, I just couldn't help myself)

speaking of warming up to, in the picture i posted, the 3 girl, morgan and i have never really connected untill a few weeks ago at the 3 county fair, my friends were pulling with their super modify 4 wheel trucks and she was there with her boyfriend, i use to be in a pulling crew so being in the pit and on the track was natural for me, she saw me there and therfore started a new era, her boyfrield is now my best friend, heh !, i took them both down to meet some of the boys and look at their trucks, now she is bumbarding me with questions regarding alky engines, best gearboxes, etc.., this is how i know im getting older, by the look she gives me when she sees me, i knew this was comming but not with her, funny how life thows you a curveball sometimes, im thrilled to have a closer relationsip with her now and is glad it's this instead of drugs or lazyness, because of this im hopeing she will be more apt to ask for help in difficult or potentally dangerus situations,
im sorry if i hyjacked your thread, im just happy about this because we as a family has worried about her for years, catch the moment when you can before it slips away forever, they are young only once,

My 18 month old loves to ride on the tractor with me. Now just when I'm browsing the forum, if there is a picture of a Massey, he goes "BBrrrmm"

Trowel, I have had some issues like this as well. It seems you have to get a common interest. Tractors can be one.

ducky, she has no intrest in tractors any more, all kissy faced with boys now, the newly found intrest in the pulling sport is now our common ground and the questions about life is injected into discussions regarding engines and such when her mind is hungry for info. it is hard but i carefully wait untill the time is right or the words are said then i give advice, never around her friends so as not to embarrass her therefore driving her away, teenagers are inhertly difficult but i understand being there once before, a give and take relationship that i have to learn how to let the smaller things go, my uncle and aunt means nothing to her now and the harder they push the further she is so holding true to my promise to watch over the girls from the outside,
all the boys friends know that my ears are everywere thrue friends and friends childrens and that the repercutions will be harsh coming from me, when it come to the girls i won't care about jail, my reputation proceeds me and they know and respect that.
as you can tell by this post my age is catching up with me now,
ducky, regarding teenagers and tractors, how was you able to catch yours before spiralling out of control, im on a learn as i go basis with them.
