My recently bought Ruggerini RD200-1 just after I started it up. It came off a genset with a bad armature.
Last week I gave it an oil change, serviced the oil bath air cleaner (Ugghhh!! What a mess!!), and pulled and cleaned the injectors. When I tried to start it, it would only rotate to a point, then stop, and finally move past. The starter cable was warm so I knew there was something keeping the engine from turning. I figured it may have some oil or fuel in the cylinders, but was out of time and had to cover it and wait for today.
Today I pulled the injectors once again and spun the engine several times to be sure nothing was in the cylinders. I then primed the fuel system by cracking open the fuel lines starting at the pump, then up to the injectors. Closed them off when fuel started coming out.
It fired up right away, but took about 15-20 seconds for the air to clean out of the injectors. Even then the exhaust had blue smoke in it, so I put some Sea Foam in the oil and also the fuel, including pouring some into the fuel filter.
I ran it for about an hour including 15-20 minutes at full speed (3,000 rpm). It still smokes, but not as much--probably due to the pistons warming up and sealing better.
The control panel said 900 hours and change, but I don't think it was maintained very well.
The thing vibrates a lot--like most 2 cylinder vertical engines... it kept sliding towards the side of the trailer I had it mounted on--even when clamped down.
I'm thinking of putting it in my 444 Case, though it's just a bit tall for that. Another good candidate would be a 646 Case if I could afford it, or an A/C 620, etc.
Anyway, we'll see what happens with it.
