Hello,
This is my first post on the forum and I am glad to joint this area.

My H14 has an considerable play on the front wheels, particulary on the right hand side. This paly come from the excessive wear of the spindle hole in the axle. Is there someone that found a good (and simple if possible) solution to correct this problem?

Not being familiar with that model or actualy seeing where the play is coming from. if it is a metal to metal contact area that is worn, I would sugest going to your local vo-ed and talk to the machining instuctor about getting it sleeved as a cheap and easy solution. I'm sure you'll get other ideas from those more familiar with your beast when the day shift wakes up.
oh, and welcome to the group, I'm pretty new here myself, but it looks like there's a lotta good people here.

As mentioned above getting it sleeved is not a bad idea. From what your describing I take it the rim itself is the problem?
It may be easier to just get a different rim....
We would love to see pictures of your machine!

There typically isn't a lot of "extra" metal in the vertical pivot sleeve that the spindle goes into on the axle. There are a few options that I would pursue. You could do as mentioned above and have it bored and sleeved with a bushing back to the original dimension. You could have it bored out to accept a needle bearing of some sort that you can grease. or you can see what a new axle beam costs at your local dealer. The Vo-ed option would be cheaper for sure, but I believe that the price of a new one might surprise you. I changed the one on my neighbors JD L130, and the new part was only about $57 after tax. Just MHO. Hope this helps you.

Weld the hole shut and redrill to the proper size. Good as new.

Thank for all suggestions. I am sure all those can be applicable to this problem. It would be easier for you to see few photos to show the wear and how it's made. I will take some then post them. At this time, I have not took the axle apart yet. I will do it as soon I will can.

The axle is molded in one cast iron piece. From the parts manual, I can figure out that the axle has been bored so the spindle pivot just fit in it. The exploded view doesn't shows any sleeve.

From the comments I read on the forum, my fisrt tendency would be to have it bore so I can insert a needle bearing, if it is possible. I need however to see the real dammages before.

For those interested, the Bolens H14 (1976) is one of the last Medium Tube Frame sold by Bolens. The front axle is the same as on the Bolens1000's photo.

I also owned a 1960 Bolens Ride-a-Matic, 4 other Tube Frame: a 1965 Bolens 1000, a 1969 1220, a 1971 1256, two Large Frame : a 1968 1250 and a 1971 1477. Finally, a 1975 Ariens S16H.

So these don't have a wear bushing pressed in as Massey's do? On my Massey's, it's a simple job to put in new bushings.
