Over the last couple of days I became aware of stale petrol smells in my garage. After checking my modern Lawnmowers and chainsaws, I narrowed it down to my Bolens 800. It was leaking from the carb so I pulled off the carb to drain the stale fuel. I have turned off the fuel tap at the petrol tank but not at the carb end. I also noticed that the float was broken which could explain why it was leaking. Anyhow I now need to put this together. I hope Brian can help me out with a new float for the carb and carb kit. I will clean it all out with carb cleaner once I got all the necessary bits.

Last photo shows the broken float.

Well Brian got me sorted out with a carb kit for the 800 as well as two battery cables with clamps as mine got two crocodile clips to connect the battery. I was never happy with that set up as I felt that was a fire risk. I am also getting a used air filter assembly for my 1050 that I got a few weeks back as that is missing.

Thanks Brian for helping me out on this order.

Did you manage to save your broken float?
Yes I did. The other half is still attached to the carbs and the other piece ended up in the wash basin as per se the photo.

I may try and look to some manufactures to get those floats reproduced maybe they can make them brass.
I've got one NOS one I'm saving incase I can reproduce them as they are few and far between to find NOS
That would be a good idea I would think. In the meantime, I will carefully glue it together with superglue though I wonder if the petrol and fumes will eventually weaken its integrity?

I got my package this morning from Brian and one of jobs this weekend, if I got time (I am collecting a modern pedestrian scythe mower from Somerset, a round trip of 150 miles on Saturday) is to try and sort out the carb. I will also be putting the float together with glue.

Thanks Brian for sorting the carbs kit out.

Here's a photo of my new bit of kit to help cut the orchards at a couple of my customers' gardens.
