Doesn't look like a tec.

The guy wants $ 300.00 for the G 12

150 for the deck and

250.00 for the caster

OR--------550.00 for all.....

Any thoughts ??? I thought it might be a bit high.......... ??????????????

i would offer him like 300 maybe 350 if i needed it or wanted it but is someome put a wisconsin 12hp in it i think thats a + to me... i never cared for tec or B&S to much... looks like you have a 1476 or 1477 that looks nice... is there a reason you want a tube frame or did you get bit by the bolens bug too lol... i never thought i would have as many bolens tractors as i do now.. i started collecting when i was 8 and i will be 22 in 3 weeks... my grandfather use to let me ride on his lap on his 850 that i now have and restoring right now. he bought it new in 1967 it was $825.00 plus he bought a parker grass sweeper and a sprayer to spray the apple trees and peach trees. then i got my 1050 it vame with a snow blower thats all the tractor ever did never mowed grass that tractor is right and tight no slop in the steering at all, but anyway they were the good old day my grandfather would be mowing and i wouls get the 1050 and hook his sweeper up and sweep grass and loved every minute of it... they were great time and a part of my life that i love and will never forget...

im sorry for hi jacking your thread i just thought someone would like to hear my story and it just came out on this thread as i was typing it all started to come back and i love my grandparents and i just could'nt stop typing

That's fine 1967 for telling a great story........Yes I have a 1477-----YES I have the Bolens Bug---- YES I want another one...

The reason for a tube-frame is attatchments availability.... Around here a tiller for a large frame,, ( if you can find one ) costs more than a tube frame with att.ments.. So I thought I would just buy another tractor..I know nothing about Tec. motors and from what I read here they are not very popular.. I can buy several G-series NON- RUNNING around here for 100 or so.. So I reaserched the solid state ign. and HOLY-MOLLY $ 400.00 used .... So a non running bolens with a Tec. motor is OUT... In my first post I thought the pic may have showed a Wis. motor in there with the start-gen hanging out,,, but was corrected there..

I'm just keeping my eye out for a tube frame with a tiller and mower in the upper hp range to buy ...

i know gear shift is better for tilling if you have heavy or clay soil but in sandish like soil a hydro is find... large frame tillers around here bring 200 to 300. i bought a N.O.S 33in tube frame square back tiller for 400 and it still had the price tag on it $895.00 thats more then a 850 cost in 67 the 1050 was around 1000 maybe a little more but anyway if you get a tube frame and a tiller i would go with the square top, the round tops wernt built heavy enough in my opinion.. as far as gettting a gear drive (TF) i would go with a 1050 or 1254... my 1050 is a work horse i pull a 10in brinly moldbord plow 6 to 10inchs depending on the soil with no trouble... but anyway if you want a hydo i would go with the 1256 i hear there great tractors and they have a hyd lift so you only need a finger to pick up the tiller or plow... i just got a 1225 3 weeks ago and i love it that was the first hydro (TF) made and i guess the hydros didnt get popular until 70 71 so not many 1225's are left... and i can relate to the (LF) attachments are harder to find and cost more.. i dont kno if you seen the trencher on ebay but i paid 2k for it then had to go 650 miles to pick it up but i only seen to and my serial number is 46...

so the G12 does have a tec and not a wisconsin? i would of thought it was a wis because tec always had them small starters but the G & H series i dont know much about, they never appeled to me for some reason

I picked up a g12 for a parts tractor and it has the same starter generator on it and it has a tech on in. I never tried to start it and the guy said he thought the rod bearings are bad making a knock in the motor. But if someone needed the motor for parts I would sell it. I took the motor off and is in my shed out of the weather and elements
