I have bought gl-1 oil for my Troy bilt transmission at Napa, last time I went the guy told me he couldn't find it in their system.. When I was at tractor supply yesterday I noticed a new gear oil that they didn't stock before at my local store. Planning to start using this since they're closer than Napa.

Yep, I found it at TSC also, just about the only place I can find GL1 anymore.

I have been in that store many times growing up in PA, sadly nothing like it in CNY.

While at my neighbors today I noticed he had a Troy Bilt tiller. I asked him what gear oil he used and the bottle was GL5 and made no mention it was safe for yellow metals. He's gonna drain it and get GL1 just to be sure. He was sure glad to know of the possible danger and wants to be sure.
