I dug my brothers H16 out of the shed and got it started today. I ran it for a couple and then put the tiller on and started turning the garden. It stalled out on me after the second pass and I let it sit and cool down for a few. I cam back, it turned over and had no compression and was blowing back through the carb. I called my brother and he said that it hay have dropped a seat, not just have a stuck valve. I took the valve cover off and the intake valve was stuck open, I tapped on it with a hammer and it freed up. I started it and there was a very loud noise that wasn't there before. I have never been inside a Tecumseh with over heads, does anyone know what the noise night be?

Hard to say. Was the valve moving easy after you freed it up? maybe it is still sticking? What happens if you spin it over by hand with the valve cover off? I take it your Brother must not be around to help?

It moves freely and easily, doesn't stick. It is hard to turn over on the compression stroke if you don't already have it moving. My brother is a college right now, otherwise he would have been using it.

I would take the spark plug out and turn it by hand while watching to see if the valves are moving as they should. And at the same time see if you hear any noises or feel anything binding.
