This is the first tractor I bougth and set up so my Grandson could help me with stuff. The mower deck was taken off for winter use.I didn't put it on for summer use either.I had made a small blade for it so he could help with snow ploughing duties. This was a challenge as it had a 5 speed trans and clutch.I had to make a clutch pedal that bolted on to the factory one so that he was able to push it in.Off course being way to short to reach the pedal I had to make it so it worked. The other big thing was the implement lift worked off your right foot.I needed to make a way for him to lift the blade. You can see I made a long handle that worked over center so that once it was all the way up it went over center and he didn't have to do anything to keep it up.Again it was a challenge as these little guys aren't that strong in the arms either.Anyway this was his first that he had all to himself,It served the purpose for a few years. Sadly it's no longer with us,he graduated to a larger one,a get this :blush2:hide my head in shame ,a Ford LGT 125. On that did the trick up untill last year and now it's.:bounce:The MF 1655. I had an MF85 Custom intil I sold it last year. I changed it to hydro & you couldn't tell it was altered. My 5 speed was thrashed when I got it & had a heavy duty hydro to go under it. Even when brake was depressed, it returned hydro to neutral. It was a job to convert, but couldn't find a replacement stick. I put a 12hp Briggs IC engine in it & had electric deck clutch. Great little tractors, & the deck could get where none of the big boys could dream of. You can see the coast valve sticking out the rear of tractor. Hated to sell her, but didn't use any longer & found a good home for her. The fella grew up putting tons of these together for his father's MF dealership & had been looking for one for some time.

Looks very nice and I can imagine what was all involved in the retro.Looks like there's lots of us who do stuff like this just for the fun and love of it. Helps when the young ones smile, and look forward to having nice and neater stuff to drive.Larry.

He sure does look like a pro, and it makes me think how my 85 would have been a good one for my new Grandson when he gets bigger. Oh well, I have plenty of time to find a project to do with him.

Really, the MF 85 is an LT, but as shown, can be used as a GT.
