I haven't been working since the new year. This gives me time to look around for projects. My latest is there was a old shed sitting in the field about 1/3 of mile from my yard. Its old but the frame and walls are not bad. I have used siding already that is taking up space. Does need shingles and a floor. Compared to building from new, I figure I save some $$.
I went and cleared snow making a path up to the yard. Hard pushing the snow as the grass was very long and kept bunching up. I wanted to do the move when the ground was frozen as its very soft there in the summer. I thought being on ice and snow it would skid better.
It was bit of a challenges as the floor joists on one side were rotten and the floor gone. I braced up the walls somewhat put some timbers under it side ways, hooked up the 425 John Deere and gave it a try. I got it to move but the back wall was coming apart dragging in the snow. So I cut a couple of 6 inch rails and put them under length ways. Hooked up again and had better luck.
The 425 has fluid in the rear tires and rear wheel weights and tire chains. It also has 3 point hitch which worked well for this. I put 160 lbs extra on the blade to keep the front end down. It really hooked up and pulled. Hooking up close to the skids I could get good lift with the 3 point hitch, Pulled the front wheels off the ground. To get the shed moving I would pull the wheels up and kind of surge /rock the tractor and it would start to move, as it got going it would build some speed and it went pretty good.
Sure I can fill a 10 x 14 shed with something.
