Have picked up at really sensible money for the UK a G10 and a G14 in various states of disrepair which should keep me occupied for quite a few months. So now my fleet consists of 1xG14 in very useable condition which I need to get hours on to see if the gearbox beds in after the main shaft teeth repair. A very good condition 1254 minus and engine, a G10 which I can return to service but is tatty and another G14 missing the engine for which I have a spare.

Within my latest acquisitions was what appears to be a serviceable 38 inch cutting deck which I hope to be able to check out tomorrow and fit to my good and running G14 as have about 3 hectares of fields to top.

Still on the hunt for implements overhere though.

Interestingly most stuff that comes up for sale is always down south. Traditional UK North /South divide I would think!!

I still get kick out of the Bolen's being a popular brand in UK. Think there are 3 of you collectors from there on this site and ALL have Bolen's! I wouldn't think it would have been profitable to have the company sell these small machines overseas? Seems Wheelhorse also had overseas sales in some areas.

Were those down Portsmouth way a few weeks ago? You did well on getting those. I think they were Jamie's if remember rightly.

Look forward to the updates.

Yes they were Andy, freed off the G10 engine today as well as a quick overhaul of the mower deck. Fortunately I have enough spares to get them both running. Will fit the deck to my current G14 and get the two new ones running then can think about restoring the 1254 which I think is my favourite.

Nice bolens u have there. I think they used to be owned by bolens Chris UK who is a member on here. He downsized his collection not too long ago think the g14 used to be fitted with a loader. Sure Chris will be along shortly to tell you all about them

Yes Phil they were mine :D

The G14 did have a loader & an engine which I still have. I left the hydro lift

The G10 was a bad purchase so I moved them as part of a deal with another collector.

You had a rear fender if I remember which you were going to sell me then changed your mind :mad2:

Really pleased they are in good hands.

That g14 has done the rounds ever since I helped Chris drag it out from its resting place

Yes Jamie thought they came from you. The G10 seems to be a bit of a basket case but managed to free off the engine today. Once I've managed to turn it over at speed a few times will see if it runs and any associated problems. TBH I think it will be a rebuild for the engine but am pleased I held on to the bits I had. If the engine proves knackered I'll swop it for one of my spare ones and see where we go from there.
The G14 won,t take too much to do as will just plonk my ready spare in, if I get time I'll pull the hydraulic pump and ram tomorrow for a tear down and re build as might put it on my current working G14.

SO now I have enough tractors am on the hunt for genuine accessories

Well pulled the engine from the G10 today and carried out a tear down. Surprisingly it show little wear just signs of it not being used much. Rings are seized in the piston due to carbon build up apart from that and a little tidying I don't think it will bee too long before this is up and running.
Got a bit of a dilemma about the g14 though. Do I put my good G14 engine on my 1254 which is in excellent condition or not or do I get the G14 up and running.

Incidentally I still have the Briggs 10HP so am thinking the G14 engine into the 1254 as all is good and putt ing the Briggs into the old G14. Still would like to put a guzzi v twin into something and I think the G14 is a suitable "play with" machine.

Good afternoon though with my current G14 and pulled about 2 tons of logs out of a very wet field.

Honed the bore on the new "G10" engine and looking good . So now everything into the parts washer. Still got to unseize the rings so are soaking in some diesel and coca cola.

Have decided to put my spare G14 engine into the "new G14", overhaul the hydraulics on the "new G14" and put on my current fully working G14, put the new G10 engine currently in bits into the 1254 if I can find a twin drive belt pulley and my Briggs 10HP into the "new G10".

As regards the 1254, what engines were originally fitted as will go on the hunt for one. Apart from the missing engine this is perhaps the best condition tractor I have bought to date.

Happy days indeed!!
