My son bought his first home about 2 weeks ago , pretty proud of him he's not even 24 yet . I took a picture of him in front of an old trailer on the property , it's last use was a chicken coop , the scary thing is when we threw a light switch there was a little light the came on in the grab handle for the front door !! It's has about an acre pond and another trailer ( lot better ) that's a rental and a little house that he'll live in . Our dog has already been swimming , I guess if your a lab it doesn't matter how cold the water is ! The house was being rented until he bought it but he wanted to do replace some of the paneling with drywall and add some outlets , paint ect before he moves in. I'm looking forward to getting his snowmobiles out of my garage , I might even be able to walk around mine now , well until I buy another lol Al

Its good to see a young man get a home of his own established at an early age. Glad to hear you can gain some garage space back. But are you going to lose a lot of your time when he calls and says "Hey Dad I need a hand, can you come over". Hope its pretty close by, its nice to keep in touch with the young ones.

My son wasn't one to be intrusted in watching/working with me around the house , he's got a lot to learn lol , I have been helping him but trying not to do everything but getting it started so he can finish like insulating ect . He was looking at places about 45 mins away because they where cheaper but found this 8 miles away so it's easy to run over and help, , Al

That's great news Al. Real estate is a good investment as well as a place to live and with a rental property it seems like a very wise move for a 24yr old.

Good deal, its great to have them learn and get the hands on experience needed to retain that learning. If you run in to anything weird or questionable on the newer rental trailer, give me a shout, been working on (pick your moniker from the following list) trailers, mobile homes, manufactured homes, system built housing (current fancy term) etc, for 30 years now, might be able to save you a headache or two.

Congrats to your son. That's great news for everyone... Including your Lab.

One of the reasons Karen and I picked the house we are in now... It was close to both parents.

As they get older we are finding a few less "Hey Dad, I need a hand" calls and a few more "Hey Son, I need a hand" calls... When they'll admit it.... :smilewink:

You will all benefit from being close.

Al tell your son Congrat's on his new place. I have a son similar to your when it comes to doing things around the house. Enjoy working with him and the time you will get to spend together.

Al, You and your wife must have done a good job raising him, :worshippy1: he is smart enough to take care of his finance's and now own a home of his home.

Tell him, I said Congratulations, :beerchug: and Congratulations to both of you for raising him right.

BTW, I was a little worried when I saw the title and then the first photo before I read the whole story. :poke:

Congratulations to both you and your son, and you are right willie, you can never go wrong having your own land. True independance is having your own piece of dirt. Good on your boy.

Congratulations to your son Al. Nice looking property especially like the pond. My Dad sold mobile homes from the early 50's until the mid 70's. Your comment about the lighted grab handle brought back some good memories.

Excellent deal Al, so what will you fill in the holes in your shop with?
Casey you saw my garage , I might be able to "walk around " the tractors instead of climbing over them without his snowmobiles lol , Al
