You guys are all great help so I was wondering if you could help with decoding MF numbers.

I have been looking and have figured out that a 8 10 14 16 must be the hp rating, but what does the second number note?

Any and all help or answers is great.

If it's the one in Yarmouth I think the seller wants a little more then it's worth. Last time I asked he wanted $1500, and it's been for sale since October. It does have a 3pt hitch and deck. I won't go any more than $1000.

Snapper made those Massey's. I know they 50's were hydro with them, and 55's were hydro 2cyl Onan's.

1200 - 1cyl 12hp gear
1400 1cyl 14hp gear (snapper only)
1450 1cyl 14hp hydro
1600 1cyl 16hp gear (snapper only)
1650 1cyl 16hp hydro
1655 2cyl 16hp Onan hydro
1855 2cyl 18hp Onan Hydro
No not that one ....... I did write them they wanted $1000 and were quite rude in their reply....... they didn't have a price listed and when asked what they were looking to get for it they wrote back and said no low ball and $1000....... Doesn't make a guy want to drive 3 hours to take a look.
