Hi All

Trying to get my hi / lo lever working on my 800, have studied the parts diagram but no luck.

Here is a picture of how it currently looks - Note the little fork type thing which is on the same shaft as the actual lever through the cowling.

Any help or pictures of a assembled 800 range system much appreciated.

From what I can tell - the bracket holding the lever should not be there and the threaded end should be where that bolt is coming out of on the sliding shaft - is that correct?

Looking again someone did a homemade "Hack" job for no apparent reason.

That bracket bolted to the side of your dash is not original and not supposed to be there, that hi low rod thats threaded on the end just goes in the hole someone put that greasy bolt in, just remove that brace on the dash panel, and remove that bolt, the rod goes into the hole the bolt is in and your home free!

You may need to play a bit with that bracket welded on the rod as it appears someone messed with it

Thanks Brian - Il have to take a closer look, I think that fork thing is welded on the shaft so will have to see.. -you say above about the tab. , Can you see that on my pics?

Its funny actually, all the mods on this tractor, including the way some things like this have been disabled have been done really nicly, nothing cut off, just neatly attached out of the way. Even the little alternator bracket made was designed to fit with the engine mount bolts and included a clearance for the oil drain. Makes it a lot easier to fix than hack jobs.

The original tab is not broken like I first thought that excess piece added on the rod threw me off, It originally is just supposed to be a welded piece of flat metal which is responsible for the movement of the idler.

just remove that bracket on the dash and slip the rod through the hole (Green illustration) and see what happens

Haha that video. I watched it last night forever watching the mechanism. Would you do be a favor and post a picture back with that tab circled in the red color etc.

Just so I can see where it is.

Removed the bracket and tried the rod - It is definitely missing the tab as far as I can tell. The fork is on the wrong size to turn the system over to. I can still see the marks where the tab would have rubbed. Guess its time to buy a new lever. Can anyone help with that?

I have a new rod on the way from Bob's Parts, I will use that as a template and weld a new tab onto this one, After the rod goes through the hole, is it just a nut on the end to secure it?

Mine didn't work either when I got it. Somehow,while with the previous owner, the entire rod was flipped over the wrong way. Once flipped back and in the correct position, and with some WD-40, it worked perfect. I hope you got it all fixed and figured out.
