How heavy and solid are the frames in the MF16s? I've been on the lookout for a ford LGT or a large frame bolens, but someone is selling a pair of MF16s with implements and I'm wondering if they are a suitable alternative or if they are too light.

Great tractors. I have a 14. Lots of metal on these.

I agree with Cat, it depends on what you're wanting to do with it. I have 14's and a 16. They are pretty tough machines. They cut grass great and will push snow like a train. Plus with 3pt you can really use them for many applications. I know if two were for sale around here they'd sell in a minute!

Suitable alternative to a ford LGT or a large frame bolens. I want to do heavy pulling: plow, potato digger, etc. There's a big difference between a 600 pound machine and a 1000 pound machine there. The option to rig up a FEL in the future is really nice too. I couldn't find anything in the manuals, any idea how much the MF16s weighed?

I sort of overstated things saying there's two for sale, one is just the parts supply for the kinda workingish one.

As far as I know a 14 is 750 lb. A 16 would be alittle heavier, because the engine block is bigger. I hilled my potatoes this year with the 14. Used the snow plow.

I don't have the specs in front of me, but I'm sure the MF14/16 were every bit as "heavy" as the Ford LGT145/165 of the same time. They did use the same engines and same rear ends as the Ford tractors. None of the hand controlled Hydro's like the MF 14/16 are really ideal for loader work if that's what your thinking, only because it's kind of difficult to use both at the same time, you'd have to modify it to run foot controls like on the later Massey 1450/1650/1655/1855.

Where were these tractors at? I know I've seen the ad but can't for the life of me find it. Didn't the guy want like $2000 for them?

Those ones are in PEI, as far as I remember. $2000.00. Two tractors, tiller, snowblower, deck, 3 point and rib and ag tires. Maybe other things too.

Just found the operators manual. The 14 is 750lbs and and 16 is 800lbs. Tractor data says the Ford LGT145 was 797lbs and the LGT165 was 853lbs. The 14/16 weight is with no mower deck, I assume the Ford is the same but I don't know for sure.

I'm not sure if $2k is much of a deal on that stuff, I woudn't say it's a rip off either though. 3pt's are hard to find, good mower decks are hard to find as well.

Edit: James beat me by a minute lol

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Yeah that's them out in PEI. I don't think I could do $2k for the condition they are in, but I think he's at least in the right ballpark. Hopefully he'll come down a bit.
