Yet another question for the collective;

With the two Bolens ST's I have:

ST110 - 3011G & Serial # 010524

ST120 - 3112G & serial # 0100332

What I can not find is what makes the designation in the manual for example;
ST110 - 3011G
ST110 - 3011G (1)
ST110 - 3011G (2)
ST110 - 3011G (3)
Neither of my serials have a 1,2 or 3 after it. So does that mean it is strictly a 3011G & by default a (1)?

If so, then that ST110 transmission is a Peerless 801-018 but if by some method it is a 2 or 3, then it has a Peerless 801-018C. I don't know what the C stands for.

As to the ST120 - 3112G then it has a Peerless 801-018C

So what makes the (1, 2, 3) designation in the manuals?

I'm now trying to find out if the transmissions are the same or if one is considered better. Apparently the only difference is the "C" designator if I have a ST110 (2) or (3) but not if I have a (1).

From what I found in the products/specs manuals, both have Peerless transmissions. The 110 has nothing on it regarding the transmission but the ST120 touts Eliminator and "Tiller Transmission" on the decals. I've tried to find identifying numbers on the trannys but haven't found them yet. Perhaps they are the exact same transmission. Perhaps the ST120's "Tiller Transmission" is considered a stronger transmission?

So what makes the (1) (2) (3) designator in the manual when its not shown on the model number on the Bolens?
Is the tranny in the ST120 a stronger transmission?

Thanks for the time & help.

ST120 - 3112G & serial # 0100332

The first two digits of the serial number is the model run of your tractor that how you tell its a 1-2-3-4-5-ect.

Download the Peerless Transmission Overhaul Manual. I've seen a couple more of these ST tractors come up for sale over the weekend. PM sent. Good Luck, Rick

That helps a lot! My ST110 was made in 84 and the ST120 was made in 87.

It also shows they have two different transmissions; 801-018 & 801-018C. I've been googling to try and find what the difference is between them & no luck. Called the local shops in the area and no ceegar, Called peerlessgear.com and they had no clue, just sales people answering the phone with no info or transfers to offer. Like the X-Files, "The truth is out there", I'll find it.
