I am moving alot of dirt using the 1256 with Wisconson tra12d. Do you think it is better to let it run while I fill the dump trailer (about 5 minutes) or shut it down and restart when the trailer is full.

It does start right up but is the wear on the starter/generator worse than the idling engine?

Extended idling will not hurt your Wisconsin engine! .....Frequent re-starts will not hurt your starter/generator.

Each time you start it, the battery is drained somewhat. .....Depending how many times you re-start and how long it runs between starts will determine if you are drawing more out of the battery than you are putting back in it.

If the engine noise and gas consumption are not a concern for you, just leave the engine running.

I have learned in short order that if you are using the tractor that it is best to leave it run the ENTIRE TIME because at least with my fleet, some WILL NOT restart. :bigrofl:

Thanks for the replies guys. I thought since it was made for prolonged use that leaving it running was the way to go.
I left it running only to find on one of my trips that the tensioner spring broke.
Off to the hardware store. Got the spring replaced moved more dirt then hooked up the plow to do some leveling.
The hydro lift was great for the back dragging/plowing process. I was almost finished when the hydro lift decided to stop dropping. It would lift fine but didn't want to drop.

Thanks for the pics

Since that 1256 is all nice and painted ....You got to get decals for it now:D

Were you able to fix the hydraulic problem?
I have the decals, I wanted to put it through some work before I finish it off.

I haven't had any time to look at the hydro. The trans works great so I need to figure why the lift suddenly stopped without any leaks.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
