I'm getting the wheel weights installed on the HDT1000 for the upcoming plow day down in the Columbus OH area.

Back when I got the EK7 the fella that had it also had a set of combine wheel weights that just so happen to fit the 12" wheels.

I got them at a VERY good price and brought them home. They weigh something like 105 lbs. each, so handling them is something of a problem for a lightweight old fart like me.

Fortunately, I have the solution :D :D :D

Put one on each fork of the forklift:

Took aim:

Got them lined up with some extra long bolts:

Got them snugged down a bit and put in 2 more bolts:

I'll trim off the excess so it doesn't reach out and bite my shins, replace the standard nuts with nylock nuts and I should be good to go :D :D :D

I ran out of daylight so I'll be installing the one on the other side tomorrow. It should go a bit faster now that I know what I'm doing.

I gotta tell you I don't think I could have gotten those weights installed without the forklift. That rascal is turning into the best tractor I've gotten yet.

That is a great idea for installing the weights.

210# of weight will help with traction!

I like bolting one of the bolts to the wheel before I put the weights

I just put it so that it is on the top side or turn the wheel so that the bolt is on top

so that the weight hangs from the bolt then I can put the other bolt on

that way it is easier for me to get the weight on

Where is the event in Columbus? I live in SE Ohio just outside of Marietta. I'm not sure I could make it - but i'd love to see see some other Bolens if I was. I actually went and inspected the plow and disk today. I'm thinking I will repaint them this winter once I finish with the HT23. Good thing you have that forklift - those weights look like a back breaking finger smashing duo. They should really give you the weight for traction with those tires.... they are beastly looking

I figure I'll have plenty of traction. There is also 9 Gal of Rim Guard in each tire for right at 99 lbs. for each tire.

Plus I have 3 gal in each front tire for 33 lbs. each, and I'll be putting 35 lb. wheel weights on the front wheels as well.

The tractor should be very close to 2000 lbs. when it's ready to plow.

Yep, it's one in Pataskala, just East of Columbus on the 26th.

Slick. I can't imagine handling those weights. I had enough trouble with the normal sized ones on the GTX-18. :D

The ones othe Mh81 are 120# each and I put 2 on each side. The upside is that they don't fit back in anything and are 3' off the ground at the bottom when on...

Caseguy's wheel weights on his SC are over 200# each (i think i remember 225) and are smooth, no hand holds, etc. We used a sling when we used to put them on and off each year.

be careful

here in Iowa if your trailer and load are over 3000 lb your trailer has to brakes on it

there are other state that are about the same of Iowa

see the link for the other states

over weight tickets are not cheap
I'll keep that in mind. I'm guessing that most of the LEOs would not suspect that it weighs as much as it does. I mean after all, "it's just a lawn mower", right :D :D :D

Not five minutes ago, I finalized yet another deal for yet another a 'rarish' implement, so when I leave the plow day, I'll be heading West to the St. Louis area to pick it up.

ob, those are the same weights i have on my tractor and don't have a forklift. i dread every year putting those on as it's a real PITA! i also put two 25# john deer weights sandwiched between that humongous wheel weight and the rim. on the ht23 i had those on plus the liquid in the tires and was almost pushing 500#. i tell you what, there wasn't much that was stopping me last winter while plowing.

I was talking to a friend today and we talked the weight on trailers

He said that the MVD officer stop the racers coming out of the pits and were checking their weight of their trailers to see it was legal.

He said that they got several

I use to work for the Iowa DOT for the MVD as a computer tech and meet most the the MVD officers here in Iowa

They like looking at trailer tires to see how they look while they drive down the road.

They know what to look for
