A Brinly sleeve hitch cultivator

On Sat. I was going to a local Amish harness maker to get a belt made for the Bolens Belt buckle that I got off of eBay some time back, and saw a barnyard full of stuff/junk, including a Ford GT.

I went down today to pick up the belt, and decided to stop in. I asked the guy if he had any old Bolens stuff and/or any sleeve hitch attachments.

He showed me a sleeve hitch cultivator, and around back, a Large Frame. Not sure what the LF was, since I didn't look that close at it. It would need more work on it that I'm currently set up to do.

I asked what he wanted for the cultivator, and he said $40.00. Well, $$ changed hands and we loaded it on the F-150. Took a good look at it, and it appears that if it was ever used, it was only a couple of times, as all the edges on the tines are square and sharp, and the tines themselves come to a very sharp point. It is rusty, but I think that's from sitting in the elements, as it's all surface rust, and not pitted. Needs some PBBlasater and paint and it will look like new!

I was surprised at how heavy it is as well.

OK...just took some pics, and found what looks like the remains of a Brinly tag.

Also, here's a pic of the soft cab frame that I got the other day as well.

That puppy sure has not done much work. Get her in the dirt and shine her up and keep the shovels greased when not in use and you will have her a long time.

That sure looks to be a good deal. Nice and lightly used. Congrats.

How did the belt come out? I've never had a custom made belt.

Really looks really nice. Nothing fancy, but well made and MUCH heavier that one you would find in a store.

All for a grand total of $12.00

Great buy on the cultivator! I don't think I've ever seen one exactly like that. Looks like the top half of the reversible tines are still brand new! Of course we'll need to see some pics of that soft cab when you get it installed too! The belt buckle looks good too! That was a fruitful trip for you!

I did a bit of Googling, and found that it's a CC 500 model. There's a manual in the D/L section.

One thing that may be throwing you off is that it's assembled with the wide end of the V facing forward as opposed to the rear. The manual shows both ways, with the point of the V forward as recommended.

I have no idea why there would be an advantage to having it in either configuration.

ETA: Looked closer at the manual, the the "Wide forward" is for wide spacing, 40" or wider, between rows.

The manual also shows a pair of Gauge Wheels which this one lacks.

I'm not exactly sure if it was a "giveaway" or not. It was done with FMC's permission, and appears to have been some sort of limited edition, as per the wording on the back.
