Just bought an old Massey MF 10 and would like to begin restoring it.
Does anyone know the original engine that should be in it?
Thanks

The original engine for your Massey Ferguson MF10 would be a Tecumseh HH100

Also depending on the year, if it is an older model it will have a starter generator and if it is newer it had a flywheel alternator and regular starter.

The serial number should be on the left side of the dash tower from the driving position. If you get the serial number you can look up the production date using the serial numbers by date sheet we have in the manuals section here on GTtalk.

:welcome: to GTTALK, you've got a nice tractor there, can't wait for pictures.

Guys correct me here, but wasn't the starter changed from belt to gear in mid '68?

If it has a serial # tag, please post the #. Someone can figure out the year from that... I think there's even a serial # list in the manuals.

I am not sure what year they switched from the belt driven starter generator to the flywheel alternator and regular starter but the starter/gen wasn't on too many years.

I though most all of the 68's were not starter/generator. I am not sure about that......
George is right about the engine - HH100.
