As long as the crankshaft is the correct size you need and the oil pan is the same (which can be changed) it should work. You may have to swap out the dipstick for the oil level. Would definitely help the guys if they know what tractor you are putting it in.
Some pans won't interchange. You can't use a big deep style pan on most blocks that come with a small pan because the ears are not cast into those blocks to except the big pan. One exception is engines used in the 200 series JD's.
It takes some investigating to find if your donor will work. As others above have said, not all K241's are the same. The spec #'s will tell you if they will work in your situation. In the manuals section, locate the parts listing for your engine. That will tell you by spec # what your original engine came with. There is also a Crankshaft Reference Manual to show what the PTO ends are machined to.
I just went through this procedure for a K341 repower. My biggest issue with it all is that someone put a K241 flywheel shroud on it, so I didn't have the correct spec for the donor. A bit more looking around and I have found it will work, just have to change the pan. But that brings up whether the rod dipper stick will work with the new pan.
So it is not as easy as just buying an engine and bolting it in.
