Last night the last of my children graduated High School. Kaylin was the last of 5. I've had kids in school for 28 years, so kind of strange not being tied to school any longer. Mom & Dad had 9 kids, but mine were spread 15 years apart to his 14 years, plus my oldest sister dropped out to get married, so I had kids in school longer than they did even!

I guess I'll get used to the idea, but it will be different not seeing one of mine get off a school bus. New chapter in my life I suppose.

Someone dropped the ball when laying out the outdoor graduation & had the sun squarely in all our eyes. People were pretty aggravated, as they could have easily faced us to the east. :mad2:

Kaylin is under the arrow, and squinting from the piercing sun.

Yesterday was a great day for her. She got her 1st paycheck of $190 from McDonalds, graduated school, then in the lock-down "Project Graduation", she won $130 in the process.

Congratulations to Kaylin. It's a great milestone for her and also for you Daniel. I don't know what a lock-down graduation is but it seems to have worked out for Kaylin.

It's where grads are invited to stay overnight in the school & socialize, have games, etc under supervision of course. Tons of parents & faculty are involved. Keeps them from going to private parties & getting into trouble, or worse. Years past there have been quite a few total that were killed in drunk driving situations. It's a great thing, and since they started it, no kids have lost their lives on graduation night.

Thanks Brian, but no honey mooning here. She's attending a college just 16 miles up the road & will still be living at home for a while yet & driving to & from. But the baby oven is missing the heating elements, so I'm safe there! :D

Don't feel bad I will be 61 when Heath graduates!
Oh craps, you're almost as bad as some of those TV actors! :rolling: I'm 54 and feeling it!

Actually, the sun was in pretty much everyone's eyes except one small group of parents on the far side. 80% of the watchers were blinded, and ALL the graduates were as well. I'm betting if weather permits an outdoor graduation next year, the layout will be changed.

Sounds like the safe grad program they have up here. We've had our share of tragedy on grad night as well. Sounds like a real community spirit is involved in setting that program up in your area!

If I remember, they frown on the parents wearing hats... So, I'm betting if they hadn't done it this way, 100% of the watchers behind you would've been blinded...
