As some of you are already aware, i picked this up off ebay. Not that i need another one, but couldn't resist this very late G14. Only picked it up yesterday, so not had much time to have a good look at it, but it runs and drives very well, there are a fair few differences compared to my others. The most obvious being the sprung seat, PTO break, headlight switch incorporate on iginition switch and on the mower deck there are brass caps over the grease nipples to the bearing shaft blades which im positive my others have not got. Also came with a rotavator (tiller) which is in good condition. Very happy with it :dancingbanana:

I was tempted also if Andrew pulled out but Dave beat us to it again :D

I do like seat springs. Gives you a better view & better suspension on ones bottom

Another good tractor saved Dave

Nice find!

Being a -05 makes it a 1978 which was the last year of tube frame production.

It and the G11 were the only tube frames that had the PTO brake and that style seat.

I think that is the most comfortable seat setup that Bolens made.

Dave,

I saw this much like the other UK Bolens guys. Glad it has gone to a good home and another great machine for your collection.

At some point I may need to ask you some questions about the wiring. One of my G14's has the lights on the ignition switch (although it is not an 05) and it is showing some very odd behavour.

Likewise, was after it myself then I'd have got three but happy with the two. Hopefully Andrew will pick my other one up for me tomorrow :)
Collected Phil's Bolens, which is a late 1254.05 model, earlier today and now safely stored under cover. I attach several photos. Another one I dithered over too! :)

Thanks Andrew, you can't appreciate how valuable you picking it up for me has been. Will be down as soon as I can to bring it home. Working away and often overseas at a moments notice can be a pain.

Not sure what to do with it at the moment. I have a spare G14 engine for it which means modifications to the body work but for some time now I've been thinking that what these gorgeous looking tractors need is a low reving high torque V twin so am tempted to see what putting in a Moto Guzzi V twin would be like, 350 or 500 cc. These are very compact engines and relatively cheap but simple to work on. I don't think I'd need to do much tin bashing either.

Anyone else thought of this or would it be considered sacrilege and has anyone come across such a thing?

You're very welcome Phil. Sam, the previous owner, shoe horned a Honda engine in there I think as the original engine was shot.
