I just purchases a Massey Ferguson 1655 today with a snow blower, snow plow, wheel weights, 3 pt hitch, snow chains for $2800.00. I thought I got a pretty good deal on the tractor and accessories, but was mowing the lawn with it tonight and the tractor completly died right in the middle of mowing and would not start back up. I could not even get the engine to crank over, it was just completly dead :confuse:. I checked the battery and it is good, so I am not sure where I should start my troubleshooting quest. Any advise or help anyone has regarding the 1655 model would be appreciated. I look forward to getting this thing running and use it this winter!

You'll have to just track the problem from the battery onward. First, make dang sure there is a good ground from the battery. Then start at the + at the battery & using voltmeter, test for 12VDC on down the line. Once there is no juice, then you've found the bad link. Could be the ammeter is fried. When they go out, so does everything else, as it has to pass through the ammeter to everything else. Keep us updated.

I recommend keep following back to the ignition switch as well. I have had the exact symptoms and found out if was a rusty connector that shorted out. Clean all contacts and verify the switch itself isn't causing the problem. I have had three problems on three machines related to the ignition switch! Must be bad luck...
