Hi;
I have a mf 12 variable speed garden tractor and I am going to put a new neoprene rubber on the band and I was wondering what I kind of adhesive can be used to glue the rubber onto the stainless steel band .Thanks for any info

Rubber?? I've had brake shops put new lining on some of my old stuff, but Rubber? You sure not just grease soaked brake material that looks like rubber?

I would go visit a roofing company that installs rubber roofs. Bring the parts with you and ask them to put the adhesive on the parts for you. Gene

Hi.

Welcome to GTT.

Sorry, but I can't answer your glue question.

As glgrumpy said, rubber seems like a bit of an odd choice. IDK

If you do some searching in the MF forum, you should find a thread about

brake bands. It was discussed in length, not to long ago.

I may have a spare, if you get into a bind.

I used brake band supplied by Salem Power Equipment (tel: 734-649-1781, www.salempwr.com). Ordered over the phone, a foot of 1 inch width material (5/32 ins thick) cost $22, including post to Canada. They specified it on the invoice as "C33427: Case Ingersoll Brake reline material". Stuck it on with two part epoxy using the brake drum as a former (similar to cheluIS's technique). Seems to be holding well enough after a couple of years' use.

Hi: I wonder if a massey ferguson dealer would sell the real brake lining for a variable speed mf 12 or do you have to buy the whole brake band.

Don't they have brake shops in CA? Take you band in with old liner for size, have them put it in with adhesive, and I like a rivet or two also myself and should be good to go. Not that expensive! Why can't you buy the band and liner as one? Can't really be that much more and save lots of frustrations if still available. If not, the shop is best next choice in my opin.
