Hey guys, Im having different issues with my 1655 not running right at times. When it is running right it will take forever to get started again the next time I need it. I will be ordering a new rebuild kit for the carb along with a new brass float. My question is why is my fuel pump not mounted on the side of the carb like many I see listed on ebay and such? My carb has the mounting plate for the pump but my pump is mounted down on the side of the motor housing. Ive read the reason why mine takes so long to start is because the check valve in the pump is allowing the fuel to drain back into the tank from the carb. The new kit i want to order has a new fuel pump but it is the pump that mounts to the side of the carb. Will this work on my DD-14 carb? Can I remove the pump I have and use the new one if I mount it onto the carb?

This is the kit I'm looking at but it comes with the pump that mounts on the carb. Will this work for me?

Would it be possible to clamp or crimp the line between the carb. and fuel pump when you shut it off, to determine if it is the pump or carb. is the problem ? Could save you some cash and time if that would work.

Bolens 1000, That is the kit I was looking at but can I use that fuel pump you have included? My pump is not mounted on the carb.

Here is my pump. Is it the same as your pump just doesn't have the plate on it. I apologize, I've never messed with a fuel pump before.

My 1855 is setup like that also.

OK, so I should buy a kit that doesn't include the fuel pump and then buy that fuel pump separately. This machine is all original so I dont mind replacing everything to get and keep it running smoothly. It looks like my biggest culprit could be the float.

I would buy a low pressure electric fuel pump. Even if it sat till the carb was dry, just turn key on, give the fuel pump 5 to 10 seconds to fill the carb, then engage starter. Lots less cranking time on the starter this way waiting on a vacuum pump to fill things up. HERE is an example

I have one of those small pumps (4 PSI max) on the B48G. Keeps bending the arms on the brass float.
