Hey all,

I need a bit of help. I'm in the reassembly stages of a MF10 restoration, and I'm getting quite frustrated with the assembly of the undercarriage of the tractor. Can someone take a few pictures of their MF10 with their mower deck detached so I can see the routing of the springs and the locations of all of the hardware that attaches to the underside? I can't for the life of me remember how to reattach everything. I've got the clutch/brake lever in place along with the deck height lever. I need a bit of help with the vari-drive pedal assembly, and almost everything underneath. Also, my serial number is 1446-025528. Can someone tell me what year this beast is? Thank you in advance! Will post pix when done.

1st off, Welcome to GTt spyderxlt. Sorry your having difficulties putting it back to gether.

your ser# shows it is a 1971, have you looked at our Manuals section yet? There are some good manuals for the MF10 there.

I was looking at the operators manual from our section, and it does have some drawings of the vari drive system.

Other MF members might be able to help with pictures, mine is a MF12 hydro so it won't help.

Good luck I hope you find what you need.

Welcome to the forum! I don't have any of the MF tractors, so I can't help you with pics. I see there are several manuals covering the MF10, just don't know which would give you the most help.

If you look at my 'MF10 Restoration' thread you will see some pictures of the underside. I made some major modifications to mine so they might confuse you with things that are not there on yours. If you look around you will find different restoration pictures that might help. Also you can down load the operators manual and it might help.

Hello and welcome to the site. Have you tried going to the Massey parts site, Agcopartsbooks.com ?

See if this link works, it should take you straight to the parts area which shows exploded diagrams of all assemblies.
http://www.agcopartsbooks.com/PartsBooksN/Viewer/book.aspx?book=agco/651219

If that doesn't work, enter Agcopartsbooks.com as a "Guest" (lower right of screen). Then search for "10 tractor" under the "Massey Ferguson" brand.

Just a long shot, but, Happy Birthday.
You must have turned 50 between the teardown, and the assembly. Otherwise
you'd remember where that stuff goes. LOL

I turned 50 last year. Take lots of pictures. Now, I don't pick up a screwdriver, without
taking a picture of it, so it goes back where it came from.

Holy cow guys, thanks a lot! Between the pictures posted by IanSherwood and the link posted by HowardsMF155 I got it reassembled. That spring between the vari-drive and the bracket at the rear of the frame took me about an hour to devise a way to stretch it far enough, but I got it! Thanks a lot guys. I'm just waiting on some carb parts and have to sand blast the hood and foot rests, then I'll have her back together! Thanks again guys!

Wow, thanks Iam. You're quick. Looks like I'm missing the return spring. Back to eBay! Here's what I started with:

Here's where I'm at with my little helper. Yes, those are John Deere front wheels... Working on getting Masseys...

I've been using Van Sickle Massey Red, Flint Grey Metallic and clear lacquer. Had some problems with the lacquer wrinkling the red paint on the seat base. Anyone else had any experience with Van Sickle paint??

And no, I didn't turn 50, lol. Only 29 next month... Sad eh? I guess that's what I get for taking a break on the restoration over the winter... Forgot where half the parts are, and where the other half go!

Thanks for clearing that up.
I saw the pic with your helper, and thought, "Hmmm, if he's 50 and has GTs, and
has a youngster, he's gotta be just as crazy as the rest of us here. There otta
be some good GT stories to come." LOL
