My 5 year old boy and I have been working on a little project for a bit now and I thought I'd show off a few pictures.

The tractor is a 1968 model. We freshened up the engine with new seals, gaskets and rings. We honed the cylinder, adjusted the endplay on the crank bearings and lapped the valve seats. The rear axle got a good internal cleaning and some new bearings and seals. The hydrostatic unit also got a good internal cleaning, new filter, gaskets and seals (I can't stand seeing a fresh "resto" with leaking seals and smokey engines).

So far everything has been done "in house" in our own shop. My boy is only 5, so keeping him interested is sometimes challenging. Sandblasting and priming parts is boring for him, but when we laid down some paint and started reassembly, his view changed and now he's excited for this summers tractor shows!

These pics are from a few weeks back, so we're actually a little farther along. The grille is painted and installed, the deluxe muffler is on and the dash, wiring and cables are on. Enjoy!

I've never seen a hydro in person before, but that is a beautiful 12H!

Better than showroom , he has every reason to be excited!
And  to you Dad. It's time well spent.
I do see one little thing and to avoid you irritation issues later is the only reason I bring it up.
To the best of my knowledge, the extended gas tank has to be used with the short dipstick, but they used the long dipstick with the deluxe muffler because of being very hard to reach. Might look at that situation and see if there is a resolution.

Brings back a lot of memories. My father-in-law owned an MF12 Hydro. It was still running strong when he passed away in 2003, and he worked that tractor cutting 6 acres of grass, hauling wagons of firewood, you name it. Thanks for this. If the old fella was alive to see it, you'd have brought a tear to his eye! First rate work!

You give me new adrenaline for my MF-12 Project. Just found some good rear tires for mine and am hustling to get it next to my Massey Harris Colt in this year's Riverfront Festival in Bagdad, Florida. Great to have your son involved - it will be etched in his memory forever. Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh, and by the way, do you have a favorite parts source. I am having a heck of a time finding a carb for this thing.
